13Apr, 2012Our task was to create a joint venture with a for-profit and a non-profit organization. When we asked 7hills what was most needed, they asked for two picnic tables. Home Depot was not able to donate the two tables, but they were able to donate supplies enough for us to build one table on our own, so on we went!
With the supplies and instructions Home Depot printed for us, we headed to a friend’s house who has a workshop. He supervised our saw-use, and helped us immensely.
Home Depot donated $150 of supplies: wood, screws, paint, etc. John McCoy is one of the managers who helped with this and authorized the donation. The people at Home Depot were a delight and amazingly helpful.
We delivered the picnic table, the left over paint, and extra supplies today where we met more friendly faces, especially Cynthia Seideman, Director of the Day Center.
At the start, we did not know we would be building the table ourselves, but it turned out well, we had fun and we are so glad we could help.
Best regards,

19Dec, 2011We contacted Mojitos Restaurant about ordering food for our staff Christmas party. In short, we told them what we needed, and they gave us a generous discount. When we spoke to them the next day to finalize the order, they dropped the price again – and added several items to the menu for no charge. If that wasn’t enough, when we arrived to pick up the food, they had it loaded in their catering van, came with us and set everything up to make sure we had everything we needed.
We couldn’t have done this without Deon, one of the managers at Mojitos. He told us that he was so grateful for the ways that we served our community, and that it was an honor for them to be able to provide a nice meal for our staff.
We are so thankful for the kindness of Mojitos Restaurant and their staff. It’s so exciting to be a part of this community.
Thank you Mojitos for the amazing food and exceptional service! Your love for your community is contagious!

13Dec, 2011We recently participated in an alternative gift market held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. We were approached by a kind woman with homemade, hand-decorated cookies, who told us that all proceeds from what she sold that day were being donated to 7 Hills. She sold out of cookies before the fair was over, and proceeded to direct customers to our table to encourage them to learn more about us.
There were certainly many hours of hard work put into her baking and we are grateful for the act of generosity. We are thankful to be a part of a community that gives so much of themselves.
Katherine Barnhart-Thriftt’s amazing baked goods will be available soon; stay tuned to OzarkMountainStudios.com to try them yourself!
